Cherry Platter with some simple woodburning on the rim. 9 in X 1 in, 2 coats urethane oil. Finally got around to giving this a try. What are your thoughts? Does it add to or take away from the piece. Thank you for looking.
Yes. Depends on what you're wanting to accomplish really. In this specific piece, the grain is pretty plain. It has very little character. The burning gives this piece some character, some texture to draw the observer to it. You did a nice job with this piece of wood. 8-)
Rev - thank you for the feed back. I think that I will continue to experiment with this process occassionally.
Larry - I will try to get a picture, but this was very simply done with a round end point in the burning iron and I just kept making random dots all over the rim. Some overlaped which made some dark shading and some allowed the cherry to show between them.
