Very pretty wood. You did a nice job with it too. How 'bout giving us a bit more information. Dimensions, finish, difficulties, fun stuff, what ever you want to tell us so that we know more about the piece or the turning of it. Curious minds want to know. 8-D
Ok, I found the missing ruler. This piece is roughly 7"w x 3 1/2" h. I left the walls a bit thicker then I usualy do, it just looked right for this one. As far as cutting, it was a breeze with the new Thompson 5/8 bowl gouge. Used my scraper to smooth it up a tad before sanding. I did find a few spots between growth rings that were bordering on being punky, but they sanded out real fine. As far as finish, I sanded to 800 grit and applied a couple coats of sanding sealer, then 3 coats of Mylands friction polish. This one is destined to be a candy dish on my mother in laws desk at work.
Very nice, I told you it had some nice color and a cool grain pattern to it and it finished up real nice Dave, you did the wood justice!!! I hope your mother in law likes it.
I'm still waiting to see what Rev. does with the piece I sent him and what kind of wood he thinks it is, cause I sure don't know what it is but it has a nice color to it.Wizzy
