This is from a log I left outside for almost a year. Created some spalting and darkened the wood too. Some punky parts, but loaded CA in it ended up looking pretty good. Stands 9" tall and 5" wide at the rim. Finish is danish oil and paste wax buff. Sorry the pic has some shaddows and a little blury. Still working on my photo skills. Critques and comments encouraged.
I like what you did with this one. You are moving in a great direction for sure. I would suggest that you work toward your walls being about 1/2 that thickness. I think you'll find that you like them a lot better. I read in one book that the guy wanted you to work toward a piece that was 1/16" or less (really wanted 1/32 but that's ridiculous). His point was that if you could once turn a piece that thin, 1/8" would seem like it was really thick. I make a lot of funnels attempting that feat. 8-)
