Finial?

I'm not sure if I like this finial. Lacquer on the burl, but the finial has only been ebonized, so I'm waiting to buff

Mustard; It is a very nice piece. I like the shape of the finial but IMHO it is to tall and a little big. I think the base of the finial is perfect. If you scroll you picture up until the ball in the middle is hidden that height seems more in proportion at that point just below the ball. The vessel is really cool.

I agree with roundwood about the finial. Any way to keep this finial for a larger piece and turn a smaller version for this piece? The shape of the finial is great and deserves to be reused anyway.

I think it turned out pretty good, the finial "might" be a tad large, but it looks good on this piece. I believe you'd have to see it in person to better judge the size of the finial... for me, I like it just like it is. Go ahead and finish the piece then post another photo so we can see the finish product.
