Ash_Bowl

8" x 4" finished with 3 coats of Teak Oil Finish and beall buffed. I've not worked with Ash before but both this bowl and another still drying developed the black spots/smudges. These were still a little green when I roughed them and microwaved to dry them. Are the blemishes just water damage or is this common with Ash?

Very nice and I love the forum, the color is great too, as far as the black spots... others will have to fill you in on that, I've not turned ash yet, so I don't know... sorry, but I do really like the bowl.

I have turned alot of ash and love the clean color. Have not seen any black marks.

Nice form on the bowl. I have had wet ash grow black mold. If that looks like the problem treat the wood with a little clorine bleach to kill the mold.

I'm in the NW so mold is a very likely culprit. This bowl has already been gifted so the marks are character at this point Smile

I have a ton of ash lying around so I'll have to try the bleach trick on the next one!
