Another piece in the Primaries series, a blue striped maple burl plate/bowl. The natural edge rim comes into a bead that rolls into the bowl shape. The band was started by cutting 2 shallow lines with a spindle gouge tip, then the blue chestnut spirit stain applied (5 coats painted on with an artists brush) and once dry, the grooves were recut to true the edges of the stained area. The right most area of natural edge was actually where the burl cap was torn off and I had to use my dremel to reshape and blend it back into the natural edge. Maple burl, Blue Chestnut spirit stain, danish oil finish. 9" dia. x 1 3/8" high.
