Manzanita pen for Moon. When I got the blank, I noticed it had some fairly severe cracks. Some were near enough to the center I knew I would not be able to turn them out. I conversed w/Moon via email and he said go for it. So I did. There were a bunch of cracks in the finished pen. I did a coat of BLO/CA first to try to keep the cracks the under control. Only time will tell if this worked. Top coats were a mix of shellac and BLO. IMO, this pen turned out better than I thought it would. I had never turned manzanita before. It was a joy to turn and I thank Moon for the opportunity to turn it. Enjoy!
Sweet. I would think that your worries would be unfounded since manzanita is supposed to be one of the most stable woods around. I imagine that what is there will remain just as it is now for now on. Great looking pen you've made there.
