These are my most recent turnings. One is Canarywood, Mulberry, and Bloodwood, and the other is Purpleheart, Mulberry, and Holly. Both are the 10" peppermills using the stainless hardware from CSUSA. They are sanded to 320 and finished with Mylands Friction Polish and Renaissance Wax. Comments and critiques are always welcomed. www.perfectwoodworks.com
they look good Leo how does that finish hold up to a lot of use and my LOML would have to wipe them with the dish cloth every day or you give instruction on care after they own them
Everyone I talk to that bought them are pleased with the finish holding up. A damp soft cloth, no chemicals is what I recommend. But they shouldn't get real dirty to need cleaning too often.
I like the look of these. I saw similar one's in a woodturning book I have, and thought of making them, but don't have much different colored woods to worke with up here.
Leo - Excellent use of contrasting woods and I like both shapes. Great Job? What if anything do you do to the inside? Until recently I thought they were always left unfinished on the inside so I would blow them out and wipe with denatured alcohol and let dry. Recently I had someone as If I put a sleeve in them to protect the spices from the wood? I guess if you could rind the right diameter plastic tube you could do this. Did you ever hear of this and again what do you do to the inside?
