These are a result of a phone call I received a few weeks ago. The call was from a man in the metallurgical department at Yale university. He asked if I would turn some wax open form bowls that they could use for casting bronze. From what I can gather they are trying to reproduce a piece they found using the lost wax process. They will use the pieces I turned to perfect there methods, than move on the the original.
The wax is machining wax from ENCO. The sizes are all 2.75"x2" and 1/16" thin. It was a fun diversion and the best part is when you finish you can remelt your shavings and use them over.
Gary, these are pretty cool. I love the way that some of them are translucent. Then you add to that the fact that they are KY blue, well you have some awesome pieces. To bad they're going to be wasted away. 8-)
