Hard stuff, wears you out till you get a cylinder. the worst is the dust, just a powder that is on everything in the shop. I turn a couple things and then dread the cleanup for a couple weeks.
Saw this picture earlier and thought "How cool! Somebody's going to love getting this piece." Just now I realized that "somebody" is me. Way cool. Larry you did an excellent job with it. Would I be correct in thinking that you drilled that opening in the back side? Was that a difficult operation to do without chipping or breaking the stone? I can't wait for it to arrive so I can show it to the bride. She'll appreciate it I'm sure, until I take it to place it in my rogue's gallery. Now if I can only haul my sorry self to the basement to get a picture of the nice cherry I have for you. 8-)
