There is a story behind this bowl. My wife wanted to buy a bag of cedar chips for use in my kids gerbil cages. I told her if she wanted Cedar chips all she had to do was ask and I would get her all she wanted. Thus I made two people happy plus a couple of gerbils now have a place to go potty. Measures about 9" diameter and 4 inches high.
I have not yet removed the tenon because I am still trying to decide if I should fill in the holes and "bad" spots you can see on the rim. At first I was but I got to looking and I am beginning to like them, what do you all think. You can see the small foot in this pic and the tenon is the reason it is off the table. Also not done with the finish yet which is urethane oil.
Dougs bowl made me think of this one I did a while back and finished with urethane oil. it was a satin finish so it does not have the sheen that Dougs has but it still shows the yellowing of the sapwood but the red is much deeper.
