Tis Almost the season. I was inspired by the recent article in American Woodturner by Bob Rosand. Shells were ordered from the site in the article, and the wood is maple.
These look pretty nice. Did you have much trouble with shells breaking when you used the dremel on them to round out the hole or grind off some of the nubs?
Thank you for the comments. I did break a few but mostly if I tried to force a tight fit, except for the one I dropped. :-) I used a light touch on the Dremel and let it do it's thing and it worked ok. It doesn't take a lot of pressure on the bottom hole to split them. They were fun to make.
