Plain Old Poplar

9.25h x 13.25w spalted poplar. The spiral flutes are hand carved. I left them somewhat rough to give the piece an organic look. The wood is has the most amazing shades of red and eggplant. This chunk of wood has been sitting in my workshop for about a year. I had no idea how beautiful it would be until I cut into it. It has a simple danish oil finish. I havent been able to turn much lately because of work. I was glad to have to opportunity to do this piece.
