Osage Orange bowl

Osage orange, 10 1/8" dia. x 2 5/8" tall. "bowl in a bowl" double beaded rim, textured band and foot with Sorby texturing tool, sanded to 400 with butchers block oil finished burnished in.

The textured band seems to be becoming a signature effect. A very nice one as well.

Thanks Ned, the band isn't original, but I seem to use it more than most. The spiraled foot and double rim are mine in that they are uncommon or unique (I have never seen either one). I think they all add alot to the bowl and they're real easy to do.

Where did you find Osage orange that big? I don't think I have seen anything near that size before in Osage orange

Phil, my dealer in Colorado found this blank for me as a special favor. I actually have a second bowl blank that is 14" dia. x 4" tall in osage he sent also although the larger one has some thin fissures in the bottom that I will need to fill in.
