This is the one that started my bowl madness. It's spalted gum that was once a support member from a broken pallet that was being tossed in the dumpster. The photo does not show this but inside center of bowl has an ebony rosette that was inserted because I punched through the bottom with a scraper. Chared edge was applied to match the ebony rosette. And I even carved 3 feet. I just realize, I have never tried carving feet again! hmmmm
nice looking piece. The burned rim really sets it off. I'm betting that the ebony rosette really looks good too. You might want to give the feed a try again. 8)
Very easy to do. Just get a cotton cloth and wad it up. Spin the wood fast, apply pressure with the wad, and hold on. The edge will start smoking pretty soon. Lightly sand and apply a little finish. Badabing!
