8 x 6.75 dyed figured birch with wenge collar. This was a rather uninteresing piece of wood until the color was added.

Jerry, this is wonderful. I love the layers of color and how they enhance the grain without obscuring it. I know you used multiple colors. I wonder if the order in which they are applied has a lot of affect on how the piece looks. This is a very beautiful piece. It doesn't hurt that it is finished superbly as well.

Wow! If it looks this good in a photograph, what must it look like "live." I agree with everything Mike says above, and would add that the shape is very handsome. At first glance the collar seemed a bit high, but I see now that it somehow continues the "lift" of the top curve. What do you use for coloring, and how do you do it? What did you use to get that glass-like finish? Congrats!
