Two elm pieces 5.25 x 7.75 and 7.75 x 5.25. One end grain and the other side grain. One has the sapwood textured and burned and the other has the heartwood textured and burned. Yes they came from the same log.
Very nice pieces. I like the way you've left the organic feel of the tree. This would make a great series of bowls and hollow forms. I'm assuming that these pieces are pretty heavy and thick in the non-carved areas, right? Anyway, I like them a lot. 8)
Thanks guys. Rev, you are right. Had to start at about 3/8 inch to accomodate the carving. I actually turned and began carving these while at a workshop with Trent Bosch at his studio in CO. You guys are really going to think I've lost it when you see some of my newest stuff. Havent had time to photograph yet.
