.75 x 5.5 and 6.25 x 5.5 mineral stained poplar. The little bit of sapwood left reminds me of a flame. The picture doesnt really show it but the color is a deep eggplant. Mother nature at her best. I am not really happy with the form on either of these pieces.
The rear form is clean, elegant even. The fore form, I'm with you. There is something that strikes me as just a bit off. I think it may be (for me) the rise to the lip. If it were a gentle curve for the upper third of the vessel, it may well have produced a different effect.
Nice pieces, regardless.
Same question as Rev Doug. As we say down this way, "Everyone is owner of his own taste." Something about respect in that saying. I like the forms very much. In the slender one the curve matches the width. Same for the "Sancho Panza" one. Of course the finish is exemplary. How did you do that?
Nice work,
Thanks guys. I guess the tall on bothers me the most. It seems like it could stand to me a bit more "plump" towards the bottom. The finish on these is Waterlox followed by a good buffing on the Beall system.
