Texas Ebony Mini HF

It's amazing what you can get out of a small block of wood!
Neal Addy and I had a little wood trade and this is what I turned from the piece he sent.
The blank was 4 3/4" X 3" and had a little problem area in the lite colored sapwood. It had a small crack that ran at least 1/2" deep and tapered off about half way down the blank. After studding the blank for a bit I decided to make one of the forms I had not made in a while and save the excess for a collar and finial trying to use every little bit I could of this beautiful little piece of wood.
Measures 7 3/4" tall with the finial, 4 1/2" tall without and 2 3/4" wide
No finish, just buffed.

Jim, Very nice. IMHO, I do think that it would look better if you maintained the same curve all the way to the bottom instead of flatting out the lower portion.

What grit did you sand to for the buff only finish? Great piece. I'm going to try some hollowforms when I get the shop finished.

Wow, great piece! Really nice shape and finial. Ditto Dan's question. Sure would like to go back home to Texas and get some of that Ebony. Beautiful!

Thanks all, I sanded up to 600 this wood sands up beautiful so thats why I went with the buff only finish.
