Spalted Maple Box

7.5h x 4.5w spalted maple box with ebonized walnut finial. I have been experimenting with different forms for boxes. This box recieved a lot of varied critiuqes from the WOW website. I will be interested to see what this group thinks.

I like it!! Beautiful wood, and satiny finish.
Also, I find the form appealing to my eye, and it allows one to open the box without loosing a grasp on the surface, as is the case with other shapes. The finial (to me) is nicely shaped and colored.

I like this one better than the other one. I believe that it's the height along with the lines that you cut into it. The other one just seems to sit there. This one has some movement to it. The finial on this one is also better. The other one looks more like a first attempt. This one is more polished and seems to fit the box as a whole better. Not too delicate, not too bulky. Nice job on both, but I like this one better. 8)
