This was supposed to be a "Turned Green" entry for this year's AAW contest, but time and a ton of hand sanding got the best of me. The wood is Ash and the piece itself measures 16"d x 7"h. The middle half of the log had some spectacular olive type coloring that I couldn't resist. Not only were all the "extra" pieces turned and/or carved from cutoffs of the main blank, it came from a tree destined for the dump. This piece was too large for the photo tent available and will be re-shot later. I already have different variations in the works.
I definitely agree with cptenaud. This is a sculpture with exquisite form, balance, movement(I don't mean "wood movement"), and variety of shapes in its composition. Excellent!
