I got this piece of Rosewood a few years ago in FL. It's the largest pc I've seen to date. The best finish I've found for Rosewood is sanding to 1500 and Beal buffing. Tung oil, Teak oil, poly, lacquer all come out blotchey because of the oils in the wood. Any other ideas for finishing?
Shellac is supposed to give a good base for most any finish, and apparently works well for preventing the uneveness and blotchy look. Blond or super blond grade shouldn't affect the wood color much. I haven't had much luck with shellac in general, but haven't given it much effort either.
