This is the Americana Fountain Pen from CSUSA. The wood is Mountain Mahogony. The wood splinters very, very easily. I had to rough it out with the toe of the skew, taking very light passes. Turning down to the proper diameter was also challenging, as the wood wanted to chip out with any cut other than a light scrape from the skew or a finishing cut from the skew. The big knot in the wood was a tad loose, so I filled with CA to be on the safe side.
I sanded to 400, used 0000 steel wool to buf out the small scratches and then let the Beal Buffs handle the rest.
