16 1/2" by 5" two coats of sanding sealer then beal buffed. about the biggest bowl I have turned; I have alot of wood that I can make bowls in this size, just not much of a call for these...or space.
Fabulous Larry. I'm about done turning straight greain wood. There are too many great crotch pieces and root sections waiting to be turned instead of burned. You did a great job. 8)
Thanks for the compliments guys. Rick your welcome to stop by anytime. Rev I still find beauty in many straight grained pieces, but your right crotch, burl, root, and spalted just glow and make the piece.
if buffing messed up the finish; first the finish probably was not total dry and hard. Also I brush on the sealer liberly, then rub out with a paper towel so that there is just the slightest skin left to dry. I lightly sand with 600 after dry, then one more coat; again let dry then buff with beal system.
most problems I would have early on was to leave on to thick a coat and then the buffing would remove some finish in patches.
to fix, sand off to a uniform depth and start over with buffing.
