Spalted Mimosa Bowls

These Mimosa Bowls were turned from a tree that fell in my neighborhood during Hurricane Katrina. I didn't know what the logs were until I stopped and saw one single branch with the tell tale Mimosa leaves. Didn't know how beautiful the wood was until I cut into it. Now I just wish I can get more this size.
These were 6" x 2.5"

I think the wood only gets like this when the trees get real old. Out here, there was a blight that hit a lot of Mimosas and this actually may be a result of the disease process. We don't usually see Mimosas that big out here. Also, I was told that some people have bad reactions with Mimosa.
