Here is one I was going to throw out due to the finish being so bad. The wood is maple, but just wouldn't take a finish. When I read an article in Woodturning about using faux painting, I decided to try it on a couple of pieces destined for the fire. The paint is acrylic with acrylic sealer. I used several colors.

This turned out rather well for a throw-away. It looks like a keeper to me. I've never tried this process but I have a couple of candidates for it=it's research time.

Great work. Looks like stone in the picture. Shape isn't too bad. The finish is way cool. I'd say it's a good save. 8)

Stone was the look I was going for. Thanks guys. You really should try it. Quick, easy, and fun. Especially if you have some bland wood.
