The six survivors

These are the six surviving boxes that I made for the lidded box C&T in the order that I turned them. From left to right and top to bottom: soft maple with walnut finial and chatterwork, soft maple with really poorly proportioned walnut finial and chatterwork, cherry with lacewood finial and chatterwork, mahogany with no "fancying up", soft maple and mahogany with walnut finial and chatterwork, and soft maple with walnut finial and chatterwork.

All very nice boxes Bob and would have been great entries. It's hard to pick a favorite, but funny enough I really like the maple with the "poorly proportioned" finial as you called it. The design is unique and I think the finial works perfectly.
