Thanks! I used a white latex paint that I had on hand for the under coat on the interior of the bowl (the exterior has no finish on it). The black design is artist's latex paint that I bought from Michael's (a chain craft supply store).
Don, neat history and design on this one. Look forward to more in the series. For future ones, you might want to look into using gesso instead of latex paint. you can buy it in white & black. It brushes on easily but levels out a bit more than paint does as it's a canvas prep medium. When dry it has the look and feel of ceramic, might enhance the textural and visual effect for the type of style you're trying to achieve.
First this is very cool, nice job. One thing to keep in mind however is when you are depecting anything native american, provided you are not a member of a reconized tribe, you must state that it is made in a native american style,i.e. Mimbers Style bowl. I ran into this with the flutes and some people are very perticular and that is a Federal law to protect native american artist. Freddie
