Spalted Maple Bowl

9" Spalted Maple bowl. Finished with Deft semi gloss lacquer. Salvaged from a heavily spalted tree that should have been taken down years ago. The tree was totaly rotted above 8'.

TD - originally this was planned to be a larger bowl. When I began to process the log, there was a lot of rot and punkiness. I had to change the size and oreintation of the bowl. I was able to remove the punky part with the chainsaw and what remained was solid. I did end up losing an inch or two in diameter but it saved the problem of dealing with the rot.
