That's a real beauty Bruce! I assume you use some sort of a router and indexing jig on your lathe. This one is exceptionally nice because of how the grain "O"s are on each rib. Is that from orienting it with the pith in the center. However you've done it, it turned out very nice.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. Yes, the flutes are done with the piece mounted on the lathe using the indexing wheel. Usual arrangement of a sled or cradle holding the trim router which slides on a piece of 3/4 plywood bolted to the ways serving as a table. Then I rounded the flutes over with a rasp/plane and sanded. The pith is in the center and that results in the pattern when the flutes are added.
