This is a piece of Amboyna. 8"x5"x2". Finish is walnut oil. I am of two minds whether to make a half round lid for this piece. Might be nice as a ball bobbing in water sort of piece. I'd appreciate any feedback on this
Thanks Dave. Because it is somewhat balanced I could keep the revs up. Minimizing the air cutting. Only tool used was a 1/2"bowl gouge. I discovered that using the gouge upside down for the last cuts, with the flute on the tool rest, made for a good negative rake scraper. With the narrow profile of the bowl gouge, I could follow the curves in and out, without any catches. Not too much sanding this way.
