Black Locust Box

I turned this box from green Black Locust. I did not use DNA, or any other drying method. I lucked out and it did not check, but it did move and is now an oval box. (Good thing the lid moved into the same shape as the box! Wink

) There are some black dots along the grain-line in this picture. Would this have been caused by a bug similar to the Box Elder Beetle?

Yep, looks like bugs, or Woodpeckers made the holes.

Looking at your picture I now know what I had but could not find the answer. The bark was really a strange two tone. And it was full of woodpecker holes. So it is obvious that those spots are from some bug the woodpeckers like.
