9"x8" Oil soak finish. Again no knots, just a trace of where they had been or were going to be. I think the wood for both pieces came fron low on the turnk, below the first branches.
Knots or not, I'm still amazed by this stuff and how you can produce that end result. Both are great pieces, Gary. This one especially looks like it's literally on fire.
Thanks GC. Your right it's lit with one mini spot behind the piece. 1/16" wall thickness and oil treatment, lets it shine through from behind. You can see by the light that the rim is little thicker.
This piece is amazing, very nice.I think your skill as a woodturner is equaled only by your photography.Maybe you could help us and give some insite to picture taking.
Gary... I've been trying to acomplish the same thing using the only thing we really get around here...Doug. Fir. But I've yet to get it to 1/16" without a blowout. Last piece darned near hospitalized me. I tried Alder and it just don't glow like that when it's thin. Maybe you got a suggestion as to what I may be doing wrong????
Anyway...I really like your work...or rather the results of your fun.
