This piece, I'm afraid, looks much better on a coffee table than on a wall. Better yet, on a stand lying back at an angle.
It's made of: Poplar - Whitewashed, burned, and textured. Walnut - Ebonized. And Hemp - Black dyed and bleached, woven.
Total dimensions are 11 7/8"x3".
I really like the concept that you have here. I'm not quite sure about the combonation of oriental and Am. Indian motiffs. Then again you may know something about oriental art that I'm not aware of. The piece as a whole does have a native American feel that I'm very fond of. Nice work. 8)
Actually, this was very much from me. I believe in the necessity of balance. I admire the concept of Yin and Yang. I once was very much a 'hippy' type and used to weave hemp necklaces so I thought maybe I'd try and incorporate that bit of expression into this one. I didn't even realize that it resembled Native American art until you mentioned it and now even I have a new take on it. Interesting. You know, some of the Native philosophies and the eastern ones do resemble each other in many ways.
