Sorry about the lack of info here--I was trying to type it in when I hit the wrong key and the picture got posted without its information! Technology 1,214; Don 0.
This is maple burl, 8" x 3". This was the first piece I completed using Don Pencil's Scorpion hollowing tool. Not as challenging as say, one of David Ellsworth's pots, but challenging enough for me and the internal form does follow the outside form. Wall thickness is about 1/4".
The form is inspired by Acoma Pueblo pottery.

Very nice bowl, Don. Take a look @ some of the Mimbres pottery; some of those forms are quite nice. Pueblo pottery has some of the prettiest forms. Some of the "mound Builder" pottery from the MO area is cool as well.
Thanks! Yes, the Mimbres is my favorite, and I have something else up my sleeve along that line, if I can ever sit down and finish it! I'll check out the Mound Builder pottery--been a while since I looked at that. Finally, my training in archeology is paying off.
I like that one. It looks like it has a very nice "feel." To me, that is one of the most important aspects of any piece. How it feels in your hands. I have failed that test, many times over, including recent works. It's neat to see someone else that uses ceramics as inspiration.
