Brazil nut shells

These are Brazil nuts , hard as stone, they look a bit like marble when turned. This is a 3 peice box set . The wood inbetween is black Ipe. Size 19 inches tall by 3.75 in dia at largest point.

Jim, this is only the 2nd time I've seen the "husk" of the Brazilnut. The dark Ipe wood goes very well w/the "husk." Cool stuff

are they hollowed out? what about glue? is it all balanced, like a stack of lidded boxes, or is it glued together??

Junior: Yes they are all hollowed out and the bottoms are glued to each peice but not the tops so they can all be opened. The seed pods are heavy and harder than any wood Im have worked with.
