Walnut & Maple box

7" tall with final, 5 1/2" wide 2 tone box with walnut final to match the base, had fun with this one, working on my finals, think it showed, still some work to do though

My first impression is that the box looks great but I think the finial is too short. I'm wondering is there is a general rule regarding the lenght of a finial.

Finial rule #1: If you like it then it's the right finial for the piece.

I like the finial. I must say it looks lighter than the bottom in the picture. I don't think it's too short because the rim of the top is smaller in diameter than the rim of the bottom. Too much finial would dwarf the lid.
