11" tall 'Lighthouse' peppergrinder. A lot of different woods, the base, joint sections, and top is walnut from a branch with about half sapwood. The light part is some box elder burl. And the middle diagonal is from a grab bag box at woodcraft. I think the dark wood is wenge then there's some that looks like paduk and maybe some zebrawood (just guessing). We're going on a vacation in Sept and this is a gift for the lady that's tending our dog. She has a collection of lighthouse type things but no peppergrinder that I know of.
I have been trying to figure out how to make a lighthouse peppermill all summer! Yours is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Mine of course wouldn't be near as nice since I have to use "Found" wood, as a disabled vet $$ is too tight to spend on wood. Around here found wood means Douglas Fir, occasionally Alder, Willow, and IF I get extremely lucky...Madrona. But I've never had all those types at the same time either. Thus most of my work is from broken pallets that must be surface preped, and glued before I can attempt a turning. But hey...I still get it done and have a blast doing it!
