I turned this snakewood baron about three weeks ago and have been carrying it since, I have been checking it daily for a crack but its OK so far. The tube is glued in with the new Sumo glue from Locktite and it is finished with six coats of lacquer sanded to 12000mm between every two coats. I bought a new camera and am working on my photography.
Real nice pen. Always wanted to do a snakewood but I'm afraid of the cracking. Tell us about the Sumo glue. I looked it up after reading your picture caption. Does it work like they claim?
Glenn, Sumo is a little thinner than Gorilla Glue, doesn't foam as much, and sets up much quicker. This is the first time I have used it but I think I'll like it.
Toni, I sand up to 600 grit then I use Micro Mesh to 12,000. After a couple coats of lacquer I go to 3,200mm and work up to 12,000mm. Then I repeat it.
