Box and mushroom

Both these i believe are apple, both were badly craked before turning, they are about 5inches high and 4 inches wide, both finished with friction polish, its quite annoying with the box, because i actually forgot to sand and finish the inside.....ah well

i like the box , you might try some inlay like coffee grounds, or tinted epoxy for the cracked pieces to give it a little something extra.

i've been using epoxy and using acrylic paint as a tint works good

Nice work on both pieces wheelie. On the mushroom, I would leave the cracks, they give it more character. As for the box, sanding doesn't create a lot of force or torque, so you may be able to double stick tape it to a faceplate long enough to sand and finish the inside of the body. The lid might be tough to mount.

I certainly agree on keeping those cracks in the 'shroom. These are awesome pieces.

Apple does tend to be a headache with cracks in my experience, but the color and grain are pretty neat if you can get past the splits. Nice job.
