This is a poplar bowl which measures approx. 9 inches across. It was turned from a 7 pointed (14 sided) star-shaped blank.

Glad I read your description. My first thought was that it was turned and carved. Now that I know that it's turned from an irregular shaped blank I really like what you've done. Very nice. Carving a piece is nice and incorporates a whole other artistic technique. But the idea of using the imagination in the preparation of the blank draws my attention even more. This is great and gives me several ideas. Thanks. 8)

I agree with Rev. Excellent,deliberate, use of what we normally avoid; an irregularly shaped blank. I like this a lot.
