Well heres the first attempt at some candlesticks, they were suppose to look the same, the first log left was fine, but i incorrectly measured the second log, so was unable to complete the top bit, and also the second log was full of cracks at the base, i believe the wood is apple, they are 13" tall, and are finished with friction polish
they look good, it looks like you did a great job making them identical... i'm sure you could find a fix for the top of that one
thats something i need more practice on for production turning
Nice candlesticks. You did a very good job duplicating the bottom detail on the second stick. If you keep them far apart, few people will notice the tops are not the same.
Apple is a beautiful wood. When I get cracks, I fill them with ground coffee and CA. Then I tell everyone its a bark inclusion

I am gonna start trying to do this too... but i am gonna tell everyone that it is super glue, and coffee in the hole!!! I think that would draw more attention...
if people only knew the strifes of a turner...
man these are awesome. i have dabbled in duplicate work for my desire of a chess set off my lathe. It is not easy at all... I would just let the wax melt over the edges of both candlesticks, but in a controlled situation, to only help hide the difference.
or if you could remount the first one, and turn the top of it down like the other one maybe???
