6 x 3 working on at least one thin piece a week, now have to get uniform from top to bottom, little over 1/4 at base, 1/16 at the top

Larry, just as a point of reference, I wouldn't want to take western red all the way down to 1/16". It would almost certainly do one of three things, shatter, blow out end grain horribly, or be too light to remain upright. I would find absolutely nothing wrong with 3/16" taper from top to bottom on such a piece. I like this one the way it is. Good work.
