Amazing JD, these are awesome pieces. Where did you get the inspiration for the series? Everytime I look at them I see knarled tree trunks twisted from age and nature. Beautiful.
Thanks for the comments guys. Chris, the inspiration for these pieces came from small whirlwinds or dust devils. The coloring is where the name Smoke,Wind and Fire came from. We've had a lot of grass fires around here lately and I imagined a small whirlwind of smoke and fire and tried to show that in the carving of the piece.
