Outstanding as usual, you have been very inspirational to me with using Dyes. Just havn't had much to show yet only a few are coming out nicely.

Thanks. The dyes I use are water soluble aniline dyes. This one is a mix of red with some black added.

Beautiful as usual Bruce. Your finishes are exquisite. Do you use multiple layers or mix colors to get them so deep and dark?

I have used layers ie putting on a dark colour (black or very dark blue) and then sanding much of it away and then adding a final coat of the main colour, but this one (and most of the ones I do now) are just one coat. This one is ruby red with a bit of black added. I add close to what I think I need of the black and adjust from there. It is easy to go darker but more work to remove and go lighter.

You can always darken,it's much harder to go back lighter, that comes from years of color matching at the plant! I do like the layers better.
