Mike Hosaluk demoed at our club meeting last Saturday. I attended a hands on class with him on Sunday. This was one of the things we did. I need to cut the nub off and do a little sculpting on the handle but other than that it's done. It's made from green Cherry. 13" long The bolw is about 2 1/2" deep and about 31/4" in diameter. The handle was wrapped in a wet rag and it was microwaved for about 2 1/2 minutes. A two by four was cut through the middle with a slighht curve . The handle after it was heated was calmped between the pieces to give it the bend it has.
Nice ladle Keith. Mike does a pretty cool demo doesn't he? I saw him demo a year or two ago and learned alot. Wish I could have spent a day with him afterwards as well.
Unfortunately, I had something else I had to do the day of the demo. I've seen him demo before though and I think he is one of the best all around turners out there and his imagination is out of this world. Even though there were other guys at the hands on it was great to spend the day with him. I also got to drive him to the airport so I was able to talk wilth him for about 45 minutes. He's a really nice guy. He'll be at the AAW this year.
Mike and Stuart Batty are my two favorite turners...both have exceptional skills, are visionaries in the field and great guys all around. Stu will be there too, this will be a fun year.
