Spalted Maple with Ziricote Rim

7"x6"x 3/32" thick. Inside finished with ValOil, outside finished with CA glue then buffed. Rolled Ziricote rim treatment.

I'm always impressed by your work. I'm curious about the CA finish. Do you just paint on the CA glue or what? The CA I've used is kind of pricey to be using as a finish. But then, as your work shows, ya get what ya pay for.

Thanks for the comments cfuller. I didn't start out to use CA as a finish on this piece. When I was almost to the finished thickness the sections surounded by spalt lines began to loosen like puzzle pieces. I ran CA glue along the spalt lines to stabelize the wood. I noticed that the CA glue didn't darken the wood, and brought out the grain very nicely, so I applied it, using paper towels, to the entire surface. You have to be quick, but it doesn't take much glue.
