Oak (Quercus robur). Greenturned from a branch. The upper "cups" have a diameter from 57 mm to 60 mm. Height from 145 mm to 240 mm. The stem diameter is between 4 mm and 5 mm. Stained by iron acetate solution, oiled.
Very nicely done. Now I am new to turning so please excuse the dumb question. When you turned these and you mentioned it was green wood. I suppose when they dry they take on any shape and that is why the bending and wavy tops??? Do they also shrink in size??
A long time ago I read an article buy a person who did goblets out of green wood and let them warp and such, he had a whole series he called his "Drunken Goblet" collection. Said everybody thought they were neat but no one bought them.
