7" wide x 8 1/2" long 1 1/2" deep This is the third natural edge/winged form I've done. The second still needs a little work. I've found I like the challenge of doing these. I have a few burls laying around so there will probably be more to come. I have a Black Ash Burl that I roughed out the other day that is 20" plus. Can't wait to finish trhat one. Hey Bud, I still have all my fingers and and haven't brushed up against a spinning wing yet. Now that I've said that, I'll probably do it on the next one.
Tsis is really nice, I like it a lot. I am with Chris, A 20" NE, are you nuts! . Actually, it sounds like something I would do just to see if I could do it.
Chris - There are several coats of oil on it,but it is a matte finish. A friend is going to teach me how to spray laquer, hopefully in the near future, so I can start getting a little shinier finish on some of my stuff.
Jerry - This is from a stash of burls I've had for about a year. I wrapped them all in cling wrap and their stored in garbage bags. This was dry as dust and turned to a finish.
Rick - I'll post a pic of the bottom. Some of it was turned smooth leaving a portion rough.
Yes, according to my wife I am nuts, but that's beside the point. I figure I've done two small ones so it was time to go bigger. The 20 incher is wet, so it's roughed for now. By the way, I use negative rake scraping to clean up and flatten the top. It worked great.
