I think this bowl is made of spalted, wormy, pecan. It was giving to me by Philip. Finished with four coats of BLO.It is 5 1/2 by 2 1/2. The notch you see in the back is part of a worm hole. For give my poor use of the camera.
You didn't wast any time turning that wood I gave you Tom. Looks great, I am prety sure it is pecan.

Pecan that is real fresh is a very creamy light colored wood. It gets dark and spalted like this if you leave it sit out for quit a while. this stuff has been sitting out for several years. I have two pecan bowls in my gallery that were a part of this bunch I got in Albany.
I saw them, and remember looking at them before. It is interesting how the three pecan peices all look so different. I can't wait to get into my hickory
Philip, it turned real easy. There are two worm holes, near the bottom on the back side, that I started to fill but decided to leave. By the way, Thanks for the wood Philip. I'm saving another piece for a natural edge bowl when I learn more about turning them.
